Mineral Liberation from Rock Samples…

• ODM routinely extracts indicator minerals from rock as well as sediment samples. Prior to milling a rock sample to liberate these minerals, ODM logs each sample by binocular microscope to determine rock lithology and the abundance and grain size of both indicator and non-indicator heavy minerals.

• As an alternative to standard impact rock crushing, ODM uses the Spark 2 electric-pulse disaggregator which employs extensional forces to preferentially liberate mineral grains along grain boundaries. No dust is created, reducing the possibility of inter-sample contamination.
